It is really great to have a studio in a location that allows you to combine studio work with outdoor work so easily all in one place. In the studio we have lots of toys and props, so we can try a few things to see what the children (and parents!) like.
Some children like dolls, some like cars, and some like to make music. Some babies are happiest lying down, others like to be propped on a cushion. The children can also play out of shot, while the parents pose. We sang our favourite nursery songs and played the instruments.
In this part of the photo shoot I can adjust the lighting and background, and like to take lots of photos from different angles to capture those spontaneous moments.
After the studio photo-session we went outside and had a tea party on the picnic blanket with the toy soldiers, just by the river, while enjoying the sunny beautiful weather and the relaxed atmosphere. In this part of the photo shoot I used a lens with a very long focal length so I can take pictures from a distance, interfering as little as possible with their play. Outside, I look for a nice spot with good light (which depends on the weather, location and time of day) and an interesting background. We can include the playground, grass, leaves, rocks, water and anything else we find.
Werdinsel - where Ruxi's former studio was located, is such a great place. Families coming to the studio often make a day trip out of the photo-session. This family enjoyed a home-made bio lunch and of course ice-cream at the local outdoor restaurant, then a sweet nap and splash in the kids pool. genossen.
What better way to spend a sunny day with your family?
