• What we'll do
The New Year's Eve is the most impressive winter holiday in Appenzellerland.
(Last year's trip here: http://ruxi.photo/blog-10-2017-altersilvester-in-urnäsch.html)
Saint Sylvester, or New Year’s Eve is commemorated on the 14th of January, according to the Julian calendar, which was used until the 19th century. The tradition is kept very much alive in the protestant half-canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden and we will document it from the wee hours, when is most interesting and with dramatic sceneries.
* A better understanding of the craft of documentary photography, especially viewpoint and lens selection and lighting conditions.
*More confidence when shooting and interacting with your people you are photographing + a more thoughtful approach that results in more "keepers." *An improved ability to self assess, self critique and evaluate your own work.
*The ability to create visually appealing, strong graphic images that can be displayed or marketed as "documentary art images”. Ruxi sold images on many occasions from her similar adventures, she will explain you how you can do it as well.
* Learn and develop your understanding of how to build a documentary reportage by covering a story with guidance.
* Advance your storytelling skills by analyzing real life situations and creating strong and dramatic caption structures. *This photowalk will teach you how to position yourself around the subject and the environment. Ruxi and Adrian will be assiting you with your image taking, content, shape and teaching the importance of editing. *Most of all, during this workshop with Ruxi and Adrian we will help you discover your own visual language as well as practical and conceptual know how to confront real situation reportage making.
You will be expected to fully immerse yourself, take risks and push your boundaries in order to move forward into another level in your photography.
